Windows provides some pre-defined toolbars which can be accessed through the Windows Taskbar. One of these toolbars is the Desktop Toolbar. The Desktop Toolbar displays each of the icons placed on your desktop screen. You can access all these files/folders/applications without double clicking on the Desktop icon.
It also includes the other important sections of the computer such as Startup items, Recycle Bin, Control Panel, Library, Network, Homegroup etc.
In this article, we’ll follow certain steps on how to add the Desktop Toolbar in Windows 10:
Warband how to become king. Step 1:
Right click on the Windows Taskbar. Go to “Toolbars” & click on “Desktop” Toolbar.
Step 2:
The Desktop Toolbar will arrive on the Windows Taskbar but the icons will not be displayed on the Windows Taskbar. Hence, it can be only accessed with the help of “»” icon.
Step 3:
To display some of the icons, you need to check whether your Windows Taskbar is locked or not.
If your Taskbar is locked, you can remove it by right-clicking on the Windows Taskbar & clicking on “Lock the Taskbar”.
Hence, your Windows Taskbar will be unlocked.
Step 4:
Now, you can drag the Toolbar towards the pinned icons on the Windows Taskbar. The toolbar items will now display on the taskbar as well. You can just click on these items to access the applications.
Note: You can use the Desktop toolbar more effectively if you use minimum number of “desktop icons” & “softwares” on your computer.

At first glance, the Start menu in Windows 10 looks significantly different from Windows 7’s Start menu. It is because, with default settings, the Start menu in Windows 10 is wider than the previous generation Start menu (you can make it smaller), and also, the app tiles on the right-side of the Start menu make it look different.
Cracks longer than 6 inches in windshields. In Windows 7 and previous Windows versions, we could easily add or remove the Run command to the Start menu or taskbar for quick access. Although most users prefer launching the Run command box using Windows logo key and R keyboard shortcut, tablet users as well as users who navigate Windows using mouse might want to pin Run command to the Start screen or taskbar for the quick access.
While Windows 10’s Start menu allows you pin various items including the Run command and Control Panel to the Start menu, the procedure to add new items to the Start menu or taskbar is different and easier than the procedure in Windows 7.
NOTE: When you add Run command to the Start menu, it appears as a tile on the right-side of the Start menu, and there is no way out there to add it to the left-side of the Start menu, below or above the power button.

To add Run command to the Start menu and taskbar in Windows 10, complete the given below steps.
Step 1: In the Start menu or taskbar search box, type Run to see Run in the search results.
Step 2: Right-click on the Run in the search results and then click Pin to Start to pin Run command tile to the Start menu. And, if you want to pin it to the taskbar, please click Pin to taskbar option. As simple as that!
As mentioned before, it’s not possible to add Run shortcut to the left-side of the Start menu. The newly added item will appear on the right-side of the Start menu. You can move the newly added Run tile to the top of the Start menu for your convenience.

Is your Windows 10 search bar missing? Windows 10 comes with Cortana. If you choose, you can have a Cortana search box display in your taskbar. If it’s hidden and not showing, here’s how to get it back.
Windows 10 Search Box and Cortana
With the release of Windows 10 Microsoft introduced its virtual assistant, Cortana, to the world. If you’re not familiar with Cortana you can learn more about what she (it?) can do in our article things to ask Cortana.
In previous versions of Windows you had a search box in the menu bar across the bottom of the screen. Now, you can see a Cortana icon or Cortana search bar.
How to Show and Hide Windows 10 Search Box
You can customize what you want to see in your lower menu bar. Your options are:
- Cortana icon only
- Cortana icon and search bar you can type in
- Neither the Cortana icon or the search bar
How to Hide the Cortana Icon and Search Bar
To hide the search bar and Cortana icon in Windows 10:
- right click on the bottom menu
- click Cortana
- click hidden
Now neither the icon nor search box will show in the menu.
How to Show the Cortana Icon Only
To only show the Cortana icon and hide the search box:

How to Show the Cortana Icon and Search Box
To show the search bar in Windows 10:

Now you should see both the Cortana icon and the search box. This box allows you to type your search directly into the menu bar for faster access to the Windows 10 search functions. The search capabilities in Windows 10 are much more than previous versions of Windows. Check out this post for more details on how you can use this search.
Windows 10 Search Bar Missing
If you tried to show the Cortana icon and search bar using the method above but the option wasn’t available it’s probably because you have your taskbar icons set to small. With this setting enabled you don’t have the option of having the Windows 10 search box visible in the taskbar. To fix this:
- right click on the taskbar (menu bar at the bottom of the screen)
- click settings
- make sure taskbar is selected on the left side of the window that opens
- on the right side of the window, turn off use small taskbar buttons
- close the settings menu
- right click on the taskbar again
- click Cortana
- you should now see the option to show search box
